I was approached by a reputable guest writer who has offered to write on my blog. Is there any benefits to having someone else write on my blog?

The benefit is you can save money from buying articles online if you don't have time to write

The benefit: You get new posts which could bring more traffic. More traffic = more revenue. But do not allow to post anything too personal (spammy) or mischievous post.

Benefits:
1. New writing for readers to enjoy
2. A difference in point of view, could create interesting conversations
3. Additional articles can mean more traffic
4. Keep the site fresh with no work for you
5. The existing friends and readers of the guest writer may come along and become regular readers
Cons
1. You have less control over what is written
2. They expect links - you need to be confident in what they are linking to
3. May detract from a tight focused site
4. Links may take readers away before you convert them into regulars
For the most part I consider guest writers to be very useful (and use them myself), but they are not always the right call for a site/blog
