Capturing Memories of my Mom for her Birthday with a Tribute Poem in her Memory
77Mother's Love
Saying Goodbye to Mom
With a heavy heart, saying goodbye to my mom was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life.
She would have been celebrating her 80th birthday this week.
I have been reliving those final days in my mind and as I look back, I find the love we shared.
Recalling happier times and sad times, I find myself drifting into those last days of her life.
What she said to me, what I said to her, recalling every detail in my mind.
A mother's love never fails.
Holding on to that love continues even after she has passed away.
I wrote this poem as a tribute to her. In words I can no longer say to her, but in my heart, I say them every day.
My heart still aches for the days we spent together. It was in the last 12 years of her life that I really got to know my mom. I miss the laughs, the memories, and the future plans.
So I share this poem as a dedication to my mother.

Poem for Mom - In Her Loving Memory
I open this page in a simple prayer
I’m missing you and filled with despair
I miss your laugh, your jokes, and your smile.
And I talk to your picture, every once in a while.
Your birthday is just around the corner
But I’m not celebrating; I’m one of the mourners
It would have been your 80th year
But the candles go out with every tear
I didn’t know what would lie ahead
When I visited you last in that hospital bed
On the day when you took your final breath
And there you met your untimely death
Peacefully resting, without a worry or care
But I couldn’t wake you, for you were no longer there.
I stared for a moment, wishing it were untrue,
But you were already gone, you already passed through
I stayed with you for a little while
And I swore I saw a faint little smile
I shook and trembled in painful distress
But I knew you were in God’s eternal rest
If I knew then what I do know now
My wish would be to bring you back somehow
Sometimes I pray that you never went away
Because I miss you more with each passing day
The things of this world don’t seem to compare
When I imagine that you are no longer there
Walking around in a very dark haze
Covered in shadows like a whispering maze
The memory of you captures my heart
But the essence of you is slowly slipping apart.
Those days we spent together I will always treasure
You’re forever in my heart like a rose beyond measure
The thought of you sparks precious memories
When we laughed & smiled at everything in ease
I know it’s futile to live in this grief
Moving on would be a welcome relief
As days go by, the pain becomes clear
The emptiness surrounding tends to disappear.
.. I’m tormenting myself as I recall that final day.
Just let it go, I can hear myself say.
In Loving Memory
I can’t help to recall those final moments when I saw you last.
In loving memory, to Mom
- You made me smile with your wit sense of humor.
- You made me laugh with your funny jokes.
- You made me happy to be with you.
- You made me so proud to be your daughter.
I Miss you Mom - Happy Birthday!
- When God Called You Home a Birthday Celebration in Heaven
When God called you home, it was a difficult time for us on earth, but heaven welcomed you there. Many people say that the first thing they want to do when they arrive in heaven is see all their friends and loved ones who have died. Some wonder if - Poem about Grief, Grieving and Mourning
Death Came knocking late one night ripping my life apart. Sadness shattered me like a hammer pounding my emotions. Anguish overcame me then quickly departed. How can the emptiness seal my soul with such despair? Looking death right in the face, t

This is really touching.. Those of us who have had to go through this loss know of the pain you must be going through...
I lost my mum when I was just 11, but even till this day it hurts like hell. I've always wanted to write something as a tribute to her but could never gather the strength to, just the thought that she is no longer here is unbearable let alone writing a poem for her..
I admire you for writing this coz I know how many tears it would've cost u...
Keep smiling n be strong
Faith Dream,
Thanks for sharing. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to have the giants in our lives--called parents--are truly blessed.

Beautiful poem. It is never easy to lose a parent and especially unexpectedly. What a precious relationship you have to treasure in your memories.
Gosh...I was in Tears :(
I pray to God to give you the strength to cope this big loss. I can imagine your loss since I just lost my Dad and he still comes in my dreams and every moment of my life seems to be attached to him. Learning to deal this loss while living this life :(
God Bless!!
I feel for you FaithDream. I know the feeling of losing a mother. I'm sorry for the pain you are going through right now. May God bless you. Nice poem.
a beautiful tribute to you dear mom, she must have been a great lady to have such a loving daughter! i hope each day you find a little more peace with your memories of her
This is a touching poem. It gave me chills, and brought tears to my eyes.
This is a beautiful and inspiring page, I just published one on how we all handle the loss of loved ones in different ways. Some of my family members are getting older and some have very serious health conditions too. Every day I treasure that they are still here with us. I know it's on borrowed time however.
FaithDream,
Beautiful tribute to your dear Mother.!!!
My Mom passed 2-20-2010. Day by day of the past year seemed to go by so slowly. Then *BOOM* it was this
day 2-20-2011. Mom was 77. Over the past year, I've consoled myself saying I was fortunate to have her the time I did. Still wishing 1 more day.
There is no greater blessing than to have been born to a Mother who lights the way of your life with her life example for you to follow.
Some will never know the soul embrace of a woman who gives to her children every ounce of unconditional love.
I am absolutely certain that it's only the veil of death that separates my Mom and I. She's nearby...
for no loving Mother could be pulled away from a child.
I pray you know this to be true too.
This is a beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes. Every time I hear "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" it makes me so sad as this was one of my Dad's favorite songs. I can still hear him singing it.
This is simply beautiful. What a wonderful tribute. I understand completely what it is like to lose your Mother. I wish my Mother's final day was different, she went so fast, unexpected. But I know she is near as you can see in my poem Dimes From Heaven. Beautifully written Faith! Thank you for sharing.
This awesome tribute to your Mom will heal your pain over her loss- in God's time. Those happy memories she left behind will make you at peace with your grief each day you remember them. Don't hold back, just let go- she's now in God's loving care. That's what I do- remember our fun times together when I start to miss my Mom and Dad. Love and Light!
